Yesterday I experienced another first on this journey to my daughters wedding day. We attended a local Bridal Show. It was Nicki, myself and her maid of honor Liz. I don't know who was more shell shocked....Nicki or myself!! After we left the event she asked us was this really happening? Poor girl it's going to take her a minute! lol
It really was very helpful even if we never use any of the vendors represented there we got a chance to learn what's available in our area and some things we may have never even thought of. Like lighting and entertainment other then a dj.
Nicki even won a free name changing. Apparently it's now over 40 to get your name legally changed after you marry! I'm pretty sure I didn't pay that much 32 yrs ago! lol
Not only were there vendors set up but we got a chance to see some of the latest wedding styles out for brides and bridesmaids. Not so much in the mother of the bride category but that wasn't a big deal anyway because based on the stuff I've seen I'm pretty sure I will have to look elsewhere for a wedding day outfit other then the usual M.O.B gear! Some of these designers should be ashamed of themselves!!
The hotel we were at even offered a taste testing! The girls filled up on lots of appetizers. I ended up sticking to a fruit salad! Got to be able to fit into that dress next year...might as well start now lol.
Over all we had a great time, got some great ideas and a slew of information. I would suggest attending at least one show in your area just for the experience and who knows you might actually find a venue you would like to work with! Only time will tell if Nicki uses anyone we saw that day but it was nice spending the time together without the pressures I know will occur the closer we get to THE day! I also suggest keeping the "entourage" down to a minimum. This isn't an occasion that requires the input of a million people. Actually very few occasions require that. It makes the decision making much easier for the bride and groom.
And yes I kept the flower from my fruit glass!! This is all about making memories people!! Wait until we visit the first wedding day venue!! lol
