I had a great time planning the concept for this wedding. It helped that I was working with family, and that my family is pretty laid back. Any drama that was had was not from within our inner circle that is for sure.
I created the centerpieces using simple details that had a maximum effect. This is one of the guest tables. The sheer overlays were purchased from Linen Tablecloths and all of the other specialty linen were purchased through the Tablecloth Factory. The silver candy bags on the table were purchased at Oriental Tradings from their wedding line (along with the floating candles and white topiary balls that the flowergirls carried).
The bride asked for "simple" arrangements for her bridal party. No problem! We used a few calla lilies and some roses, added a ribbon and BAM! Your done. LOL
The head table! We used silver charger plates, simple white napkins and a white tablecloth underneath a beautiful silver crushed taffeta tablecloth. The blue globes were purchased at TJ Maxx, for a fraction of the cost that it would have been if we purchased online or at a department store.
The overall effect of the room changed from a basic Yacht Club to a great partyroom. The reception was held at the Ware River Yacht Club. The staff there were very friendly and extremely accommodating to our needs.
The bride and groom had requested a Candy Bar. The brides mom and I found some great apothecary jars at TJ Maxx (again the prices were better then anywhere else we looked).
Although the bride and groom had real flowers (along with the parents). I was able to make the centerpieces, bridal party flowers and ceremony flowers at a fraction of the cost that it would have been if they had used a florist.
I wish Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr had been around when I first started doing events. I found so many great ideas for not only this wedding but for future events. Who knew a simple design of chair sashes and a single white hydrangea would look so great together!
The parents table was draped in the same crushed taffeta as the wedding party.
The dollar tree is my bestfriend! The table number frames are from there, as well as the votive candle holder and the glass vases. You can't beat that with a stick. And because the Yacht Club tables only accommodated four to five people the scale of the design worked out perfectly.
I had purchased this frame form a thrift store years ago but had never used it. I was looking for a frame that had a kind of chic Victorian look and had not found one I liked. A few days before leaving for the wedding I came across this frame in my stash and pulled out some white spray paint and went to town! I sprayed just a hint of silver over the top to add some dimension.
Another idea from Pinterest was the inspiration for this monogrammed runner from Pottery Barn for the cake table. We continued the theme of Silver and Tiffany Blue in the accessories and the tablecloth.
The frames were from Michaels. The mother of the Bride and I found them on one of our many shopping excursions. They were on clearance and were natural wood. I sprayed them silver and attached the Bride and Groom sign on the back of their chairs with the same ribbon we used throughout the wedding. All of the printables came from the weddingchicks blog.
There were several children at the wedding including the Brides nieces, a godchild, and several cousins. We made special kits for them to keep them occupied throughout the reception dinner. Another great idea picked up on Pinterest!
I tried to incorporate the Brides late grandmother into the wedding as much as possible because I knew how close they had been. The brooch on the vase which held her bouquet belonged to her grandmother. She also had an extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers that she had left to her granddaughter. One day while at the Brides parents home I found one that matched the wedding colors to a T! We placed them on the Head table the day of the wedding as a tribute to their relationship. Other small touches not seen included a handkerchief that belonged to my Great Aunt, the brides grandmother on her maternal side which we presented to her the morning of her wedding (before applying make-up I might add). We also brought a pack of handkerchiefs for the entire wedding party, parents and those of us working that day!! Surprisingly there were few tears, but plenty of laughter!!!
The Bride and Groom were married in the family's church by her mom's pastor and her dad's pastor.
There were "family" style tables at one end of the reception facility. We used runners instead of table overlays and tall vases from Michaels. Most of the flowers used were either purchased at Michaels Arts and Crafts, the Williamsburg Pottery or the Dollar Tree! The white tablecloths and White chairs were rented from ABZ rental in Yorktown.
One of the very first details the bride and I discussed was how she wanted the bows on her chairs designed. At the time I didn't think about the fact that I would have to tie 160 bows. In the end everything looked beautiful and the bride and her family were pleased with it all. In the end that is all that matters! LOL
I am very proud of the work done on this wedding. It was truly a labor of love and the hard work was shared by all. Throughout the process whenever we would come across a glitch (mostly small glitches) I would remind everyone that we always have a plan B, but that most of all God was in control of the day and he would work it all out in the end. And he did!
