The cake and cupcakes were created by one of my daughters high school classmates!

The Gloucester Institute made for a great backdrop on which to decorate!!

The front entrance! I can't begin to thank my family enough for all of their hard work over the last few weeks, months and days!!

Originally if we were able to conduct the ceremony in front of the home we would have had a sign out front for guest that said pick a seat not a side. But because everything was done under the tent it wasn't possible! The bride still did an excellent job on it though!!

The chefs staff preparing that morning for the big day!!

The sweetheart table!!

Thank goodness for the large tent!! It helped keep most of our guest from getting wet!!

New Journey

In just 5 days our baby girl will walk down the aisle into a new life!

I'm trying so hard to keep my emotions in check and I'm praying this Saturday that I don't cry away all my makeup! lol

I don't know if it's the fact that she's my first child to get married, or if it's the fact that she's my baby girl!

I just know that this week will be bitter sweet! I'm excited to watch the next chapter of her life unfold. To me she will always be my princess!! But to Byron she will be his queen!

The last few weeks have been especially hard for her dad. This is a new feeling for even him. I still don't think he's fully processed the fact that he will be walking her down the aisle.

My husband never cries (Nicki has inherited that same gene). I pray for them both as I feel that they will not fully get what a difference this weekend will make in their lives.

I don't think Nicki has ever thought of herself as daddy's girl (I'm not sure my husband has either), but I know they have a very special relationship and the transition from father and daughter to husband and wife will be emotional .

My husband has been the man in her life for nearly 30 years, I'm pretty sure he is the reason that both my girls would not settle for just any man! When they were small he told them they didn't need a man if he wasn't willing to do all of the things that a man should do for his wife!

I think this made it hard for men to just come at my girls any old way.

Byron has promised me (and he knows I will hold him to it) that he will spend his life treating her like the queen she deserves to be treated like! And even though she's daddy's girl, mama don't play and I will be watching!!

Nicki if you are reading this I want you to know your mom and dad love you to life!! We wish nothing but he best for you and Byron. I ask God to pour down showers of blessings over your marriage, your home and your future children. Remember to keep God first (and center) in your life and know that if you all ever need us we are there! I'm praying that Saturday will be everything you ever hoped and wished for, but always remember it's not the day that is as important as the years to come! Congratulations you two!! Love mom and dad!

Where has the time gone???

I cannot believe the wedding is next Saturday!! I feel like I've got a million and one things to do!!

Last Friday we got to meet the photographer Clara Anne. I'm pretty sure Clara was not ready for our wild and crazy group but it didn't take her long to adapt which made me feel good because I'm pretty sure we will be unlike any family she has ever worked with! lol

Not in a bad way mind you, just very different lol.

First of all it's been raining cats and dogs, and it was no different Friday when Nicki did her Bridal Photo Shoot!

When we left for the wedding site it was pouring down rain and we knew then it would not be any outdoor shoot. Which we were ok with. The home where the wedding is taking place has a Victorian feel to it which was exactly what Nicki wanted so it worked out perfectly (of course I can't show you pictures from that day but I can insert a few from previous visits) .

But what we weren't prepared for was the flooding!! Nicki had actually left ahead of me because I was riding with my girlfriend Teresa in her van so that we could drop off a ton of flowers and other decorations at my cousins home.

Traffic was backed up and Nicki had already got word via Clara (that in itself made me like this girl) that it was going to delay us all in getting to the center.

Nicki called me in a panic because neither her or the photographer could get to the site because the road was flooded over from all the rain!

I told her to call my mom because I knew there was another way in on higher ground, and "Mimi" would know it! At first neither of us could get her or my cousin on the phone and I kept worrying my already stressed out daughter would fall apart.
We finally got a hold of mom, and Teresa and I met her (got in the car with her), and went off to rescue the bride and the photographer!
I should not be surprised that it would be an adventure when it comes to Nicki, but I really need for God to work it out next weekend!
We finally made it to the house. Got Nicki in her dress and thankfully Clara got some great shots even with the cloudy skies. We didn't get to take any pictures on the property itself but at one point the rain let up long enough for us to do a few shots on the front porch!!

We had one small mishap which I'm glad happened during the photo shoot and not the day of the wedding! At one point Nicki broke her shoe strap. Thankfully my mom found someone to repair it and it is good to go!! She even got a picture of him working on it for my scrapbook!!

This weekend my oldest daughter graduates and then next weekend we finally get to bask in all of the hard work and planning we have done over the last year. I'm not sure I'm ready and although we have had a lot of ups and downs along the way, if you asked me now if I would still take on the job of planning my daughters wedding the answer would still be yes!!

Nothing will give me greater pleasure then seeing her smiling face when she walks down the aisle. And knowing that she and Byron trusted me enough to plan such an important day makes me a very happy mama!
