Ok, this post is for Jeanette. She has this great blog filled with links to great home decor items, scrapbook related sites, and every other item you can think of to purchase. Not only that if you ask her to find something..she can find the most unique items in places you would never think of (lol)looking. A few weeks ago I asked for her help in finding products or ideas for my new breakfast bar area ( and boy did she deliver ). Many of you may remember it as being my mail area. And it worked for a while, but over time it started to get cluttered and so when I did my clean sweep of the kitchen I decided this area needed a change. I came up with the breakfast bar in part because Nicki called me one day complaining of a headache..when I asked her if she had eaten anything that day she said no ( mostly because she just doesn't have the time for that ). Now, because I have hbp it has become really important for me to start the day off with a good breakfast. My family is usually on the run in the morning, and Sunday mornings we are at church at 9:30 am for Sunday School. Anyway....breakfast has become one of those things my clan seems to ignore in the act of getting to work and classes on time. Marc usually has a cup of coffee before beginning the day...but that is basically it. And at this point in life...I find it really hard to get up at dawn to fix a meal that goes uneaten because people are in a hurry to get somewhere. So I started thinking about Disney ( smile ) and the fact that its the one place we seem to slow down a bit and actually take the time to eat before heading out to the parks for the day. So I figured if I set up a station with some basic food items ( cereal, oatmeal packets, muffins, fresh fruit, fruit smoothies, etc ) that just maybe the family would at least grab something on the way out the door. So far it seems to be working. Jeanette gave me the idea of using some white china ( even gave me a link to some cute set at Target )the set in the pictures are a gift from my mom I got several years ago. The were collecting dust in cabinet. Now I have them on the counter so that on Saturday mornings ( the one day when I get a chance to cook for everyone ) the family can just pick up a plate and grab their meal. The waffle maker is my birthday gift to myself...its one of the many things that makes me Happy ( that and a jug of orange juice ). I'm hoping this will at least slow them down long enough to put something in their tummy. Its still a work in progress, but thanks to Jeanette I at least have a plan. And it looks pretty cute in the process(lol). I'm still looking for the perfect basket and canisters for my tea and hot chocolate..so if you see anything cute drop me an email.

V, on one of our trips to Disney we spent the night at a hotel about two hours from Orlando the night before we were to arrive. Marc never stops but this night we got a late start so we figured it would be better to call it a night. The next morning we went down to breakfast and they had this waffle iron out with batter for you to make your own waffle. I fell in love with it. Especially how you flip it over like the professionals. Yesterday Marc caved and brought it for my birthday ( we have been eying it forever ). I had to make waffles this morning. The secret to a good waffle maker is deep grids. Makes all the difference. My old one is going in the garage sale box.
